World of Work!

Hello blogger's! on Wednesday "27th" my class and other gr. 8's will be going to a field trip to the World Of Work programme at Landsdowne Park. Here is the assignment of the event.

2.  The sector that appeals me the most would be the Aircraft Maintenance sector, because ever since I was in gr. 6 I've always wanted to build airplanes and I think it would be really cool building object that can take air. Also of how fun it would be to make a jet of an airplane including the dome structure and frame.

Assignment #5 - Island Man: Work With It

Island Man (for a Caribbean island man in London who still wakes up to the sound of the sea)

Morning

an island man wakes up

to the sound of blue surf

in his head

the steady breaking and wombing

wild seabirds

and fishermen pushing out to sea

the sun surfacing defiantly

from the east

of his small emerald island.

He always comes back

groggily groggily

comes back to sands

of a grey metallic soar

to a surge of wheels

to dull North Circular roar

muffling muffling

his crumpled pillow waves

island man heaves himself

another London day.

The place I would like to wake up in...

 One of the places I've always wanted to wake up in, would in the Bahamas Islands "Poseidon's Undersea Resort". Waking up underwater would be something really new and extremely cool and the luxury in there looks really relaxing.

Khaleefa Reflection

4 Specific things that you enjoyed about Khaleefa's presentation.

        One specific thing that I’ve enjoyed about Khaleefa’s presentation was how he explained or told us about his life (love, family, friends, etc.) and said to us that how he started out as a writer. That was a big inspiration for me by telling me that I could be anything in life as I’m older. His raps were really well said in fact of how he used juicy words almost in every sentence that was also my favorite part in the presentation for me.

3 Things that Khaleefa did or spoke about that you can use to help inspire and develop your own poetry.

        One thing that hit me was how Khaleefa mentioned to use the beat you hear when saying a rap and fit it in with the rest of lyrics. The part were he help me think of a poem was when he said that most parts of a poem doesn’t have to rhyme that helped me a lot. Seeing Khaleefa’s Face expression and hand gestures reminded me to remember that when I present I sort of have go or show the flow of the poem (rap).

2 Questions you have for Khaleefa.

        One question I have for Khaleefa is that does he know any other rappers other than “Shad”. And does he perform in clubs too?  

1 A one sentence summary of why Khaleefa is a good role model for youth.

            Khaleefa is a really good role model for youths by expressing poems and raps about the world in which of the experiences of the poor and he is selfless.

Assignment #3 - Behind Your Name

Before I started this assignment, I thought my name was similar to "Richard", because they both sounded pretty much the same.
I think my parents chose this name for me because they thought I would get a good guidance of almost everything. 


After searching on Behind the Name  (http://www.behindthename.com/name/rashad), I learned that my name means "good sense, good guidance". Some other interesting things I learned are that my name is used with a famous football player named "Reshad Jones" I think my name does suit me, because Its good name that goes with my personality and fits in me.   


If I could give myself a new name, it would be "Shad", because it's shorter and carries the same letters and attributes of my name except the part were the "Re" is gone ("Re"-"Shad"). 

Assignment #2 - Empathy Student of the Month Presentation Reflection

3. During our presentation, when we presented some of us who dramatized should of look part way towards the audience in a little “slant” to see our face expressions  to tell the crowd of how or what the actor is doing. (Positively everything was good).

2. Overall, I say that the presentation was marvelous everyone’s part was done perfectly and I think the audience got the meaning if being there for someone.

1. When performing, students should take a deep breath in and let it out slowly and start out with confidence, make sure for your face and body to looks towards the audience when speaking, but when dialogue included try to pose a slant towards the crowd and the individual, showing face expressions so both know what is happening.
