DigLitCirc Section 2 Hosts

DigLitCir: Wounded by Eric Walters

Section: pg. 14 -15, Chapter one

Why do think they didn't celebrate Megan's Birthday? What did Marcus mean by "base kids" in his school?

Explain your answer.

In the story itself they had mentioned that they were going to celebrate in Megans birthday

but not on her birthday, the birthday party will be taken place on the exact day her dad comes back home (Well that’s what she thinks)

The base kids I think what he was trying to define, was kids that camp and se the dangers and explore what the military is all about.

I think that base kids give a better understanding because usually kids think “ Oh cool I get a gun, Cool I get to shoot people, Cool I can get some muscle while doing it” But in reality its no game, the people in the military day and night are risking there lives.

While we just “Chill” and do absolutely nothing and sure we have a few thoughts about the people in the war but seconds later we forget, Which was mentioned in the book.

i dont know why they did'nt want to celebrate megan's birthday. But i have a feeling that the did anywase.

And for the word "base kids" I thing it means is kids are training to be in the milatairy because base means like a millatary base.

So i guess what marcus is trying to say is the people in school are training for the millatary.

I agree with Mateen, in the story The Mother states that Megan will celebrate her birthday the day when her father gets home. But she was covinced to give him a few days of relaxation. "We know your sister's birthday is March third. We also know that she's asked that we don't celebrate it until your father comes back." (pg 14, lines 8-11.)

I think the "Base Kids" are children who's parents are working in the military. My first idea was children who lived in a specific area known as the "base", but now that seems a bit silly because then everyone would probably be a base kid.
